Therapy?

If you're looking for a therapist, there's a good chance you feel like "something" in your life isn't working, perhaps within yourself, a relationship, or your career. Sometimes it's hard to know what that "something" is, and, other times, the feeling may be directly connected to a specific event, relationship or past trauma. You may find that the coping strategies which have served you up to now are no longer working and you just can’t go on the way you are.
All of us experiences difficulties in our lives, but sometimes it is hard to face them alone and saying how you feel can be difficult with family and friends. You may feel the subject matter is just too sensitive. You may fear that others will judge you or be shocked by your thoughts and feelings, this is where therapy can help.
Therapy is the process of rediscovering clarity, purpose, and joy. While starting therapy can seem daunting, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space in which we'll explore your concerns together. I use compassion and humour to help you move through pain and worry, so that you can be more fully present in your life, relationships, and community. I will work hard with you to release unhealthy or frustrating ways of thinking or behaving that stand between you and the life you want. Most psychological symptoms and problems emerge when we move through life on "auto-pilot," relying on old learning from the past. Relief from psychological pain comes when we face feelings that we are avoiding and develop new coping skills and new ways of looking at our lives. Change is challenging and having support is key.

Therapy may help with

Therapy is an invitation to bring awareness to the here and now. For many of us, we push through our difficult feelings as and when they arise in our daily lives but they often show up as unwanted thoughts, feeling or behaviours. This can sometimes result in avoidance. However what if moving toward our feelings actually reduced the influence they have over us, allowing us to attend to the very things we value, thereby creating meaning and purpose in our lives

Life brings all kinds of situations our way. From experiencing a traumatic event to managing difficult relationships, many of us experience a time in our life in which we feel broken and in need of some help to try to put it all back together. It is my hope that you will allow me to be a part of that process.

You may have issues such as;

  • Anxiety, panic attacks

  • Relationship issues, including family, workplace and intimate

  • Depression and low mood

  • Bereavement or loss

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Self-harm/ addictions / eating disorders

  • Trauma and traumatic experiences

  • fearfulness and feelings of inadequacy

  • Disappointment, sadness and meaninglessness in life

The therapeutic modalities and techniques I have been trained in allow me to use counselling or clinical hypnotherapy separately or Integratively allowing for flexibility based on your individual needs. From my experience clinical hypnotherapy can be exceptionally useful in bringing awareness to deep rooted issues. It removes barriers and allows access to a deeper working level which often cannot be accessed by traditional counselling alone.

I believe in a holistic approach to wellness that focuses on the mind/body connection. Through therapy we will explore the various ways life's challenges may be impacting your overall health mind, body and spirit. It never ceases to amaze me, the strength and courage my clients have in taking that first step into therapy; to meet a complete stranger and trust them with your innermost thoughts, fears and feelings - and I can only say that, because I have been there myself.

I absolutely love what I do. I consider it a tremendous privilege to have helped and worked alongside so many people who have undergone personal growth and development, making sustainable changes to their lives for the better.

Clients and colleagues say that one of my strengths is building a solid rapport and trusting relationships; I can offer you a safe space where you can be really heard. I can help you explore any issues and uncover, or make sense of, what is not working in your life right now.

Whatever you’re struggling with, I’m here to help you achieve your goals. You can find my details and registration on counselling directory and the British association of counsellors and psychotherapists (BACP)  Contact me to find out more.
